He had a way with words, this British guy who was all manners and genuine charm. It made Meg smile slightly without even realizing she was making the expression.
"I try to leave them all to it, much of the time. It's just when people I care about seem to get dragged into the ego games and I worry about them getting hurt." She offered a self deprecating shrug. "I know, a soon-to-be lawyer who cares, I'm told it's a big flaw in the business but hey, I think I'm okay with that." The smirky glint in her eyes showed just how really okay with it she was. All the soulless lawyer jokes out there, she did want to use the law to help people. Especially the displaced here who might make innocent mistakes and need protecting in the courts.
"I'm not sure why the Seal brought me back," she mused though. "I mean people die here every day. Okay, obviously people die every day because that's life, but I mean because of demons and monsters and everything. I've not figured out yet why I'm here but not them. Not that I'm complaining or anything, obviously. This chance of a new life, to do some good, it's amazing. I just hope the Seal doesn't decide to take it away again some time." It was something that did scare her. People were sent away all the time, even those who had died in this world and been brought back to life. Meg did fear that one day she'd just be dead again.
