Damon gave it a moment before opening the door. He smiled at her through a small opening, then opened the door all the way so that Caroline could step inside.
“See, I missed that charming attitude.” He closed the door behind her. Damon stepped aside slightly so that she’d have room to move further indoors. Even if his words were tinged with sarcasm, Damon had missed Caroline. There was a time when he’d used her purely as a tool to get into Elena’s life, but they’d spent time together in Lawrence before and had gotten beyond that. He wasn’t the kind of individual who would use people like that anymore, either. Yes, many people in Lawrence still thought of him as a monster, but Damon knew that he’d grown, changed a little.
“Something to drink?” He asked, giving a nod to the giant freezer in the corner of the main room.
