He ducked his head just slightly at her comment about decking him. Sam's grin faded just as quickly as it had come along, his priorities straightening away from the silly remarks and forward to the fact that he knew that he had screwed up somehow. Sam had to make it right. He hated the idea of Ruby being upset - even more so than outside of the banter they were used to - and wanted to make sure that she went to bed tonight feeling happy and, more importantly, loved.
"What I feel when I touch you on the inside? It's nothing bad. Nothing to be afraid or disgusted of. That dark thing I can only touch up here -" He tapped the side of his head with a hand. "- I feel it the most right here. Every time." Sam finished it off by taking her hand, the one that he had just kissed, and placing it over his heart. "I touch the others and it's cold. Freezing, actually. But you...I feel like there's not enough. I could drown in it. It's the most wonderful thing that I've ever been able to feel, being close to you. Being in love with you. You're one of the best things that have ever happened to me, Ruby."
He gripped at her other hand, squeezing it with a smile. "Don't doubt us for a second. Not even if I start acting all weird. It's just baby talk - you have to admit, it was pretty terrifying."
