"You're not like the others though, Ruby," Sam pushed, stiffening just slightly when she wrapped her arms around him. Sam couldn't help himself in that regard. The thought of babies were still lurking around in the back of his mind, whether he wanted for them to or not. "You're different, right?" He forced himself to calm a bit; the reaction wasn't necessary. Ruby couldn't get pregnant through a hug. She said she couldn't get pregnant period. He was overreacting. Biting his lip, Sam pushed his arms around her and kissed the top of her head carefully. "You're a better person now. You're a great person." He pushed some of her hair back behind her ear, leaning back slightly to look down at her Ruby in concern. Why did it feel like something was wrong here?
"Are you okay?" His brows rose upward, stressing the uncertainty clearly. "I am here. I'm right here with you, Ruby." He steered Ruby even closer, craning his neck down almost painfully so in order to see her face as clearly as he could. What did he say? What did he do? He had to have done something. Ruby didn't feel right.
