Sam didn't like feeling this way around her. Awkward and...just weird. He'd gotten over that awkward, bumbling behavior for the most part. Back when they'd first realize what it was that they had between them, Sam and Ruby had an interesting time getting back on their feet as a unit again. Now this...this had jumped at him out of nowhere. Sam felt like he was back at square one. Except this time he knew Ruby better than before. It was all just...what, nerves? Fingers brushing through his dark hair, Sam settled onto the couch. He clasped his hands together loosely and examined their surroundings, immediately deciding that Ruby needed more to her home to make it look like a home. She was getting there.
"I - thanks." He took the beer, noting that it was his usual brand. She always did remember the small stuff. Sam would have smiled a little at the thought, but his nerves were still frayed. He needed to get it together already.
She was apologizing. Sam felt bad now. Like he was ruining her fun or something. He shook his head, another forced smile moving to replace the first one he had displayed earlier. "I get it. It's okay. I was thinking about it when I knocked at the door and just seeing you there like that...it threw me off is all. It caught me off guard." Sam looked down at his drink. "You were just trying to make me smile. There's nothing wrong with that."
