Spike (with mentions of Piffy!) Friday afternoon; A beach in San Diego Re-realizing what he already knows. Because Spike is reflective like that. Or something. PG (surprising, considering these two, I KNOW!)/Complete
Sitting on a beach in San Diego in the middle of the day was something Spike never would have had the chance to do had he never ended up in Lawrence. It was a simple thing, really, something most people would take for granted, but after over a century without the option, it was something he had an appreciation for that most of the beach-goers wouldn't quite understand.
He'd also never have met the rainbow-haired bird on this little trip with him had it not been for the Seal dropping him in Kansas. So, while most people were running around blaming the Seal for this and that and complaining about it all the time, Spike didn't mind it as much. Sure, the others were rightfully angry at the bloody thing, it seemed to outright help Lucifer's own agenda at times, really, but if he was honest, never meeting Pip would be worse than having that bauble wish taken away. If he was sent home and remembered nothing else, he wanted to remember her. He couldn't pinpoint exactly when things had changed, but somewhere along the way, he'd fallen for her. How a person could successfully be so blind to their own feelings, he wasn't sure, but it was certainly becoming a pattern for him. It all started real casual, nothing serious, no strings--neither of them wanted any more than that. The only requirements were keep it simple and keep it fun. But somehow, that had changed. There was just something about her that drew him in. And before he knew it, he was falling for her.
At this point, he had no idea what to do with it. She knew. She knew how he felt and her initial reaction had kind of just been to avoid him, which admittedly wasn't the most ideal response. But a few days was all that really lasted and--for the most part--things were mostly normal again. Recent events gave him plenty of suspicions, but nothing he was entirely ready to press her about. The last thing he wanted to do was push her away. So, instead of voicing any of it, he kept his mouth shut and went on as usual. But that didn't stop the thoughts in his head from rushing in.
Epiphany was talking, but he'd checked out for a moment, lost in his own head, and now she was leaning over him, her upside-down face mere inches from his own. "Oi, Spike. Are you listening to me at all?"
"No, sorry, love, I wasn't." he admitted, chuckling softly.
"Food. Let's go. I'm starving" She said before standing up properly. "You may not need it, but I do."
"All right, all right, keep your knickers on." he mumbled with a half-hearted roll of his eyes as he stood up, ready to follow her to whatever restaurant she chose for the day.
