Saturday the 12th
This getaway had certainly been needed. While Gaia was aware that Regina needed to get away from things for a few days, Gaia hadn't exactly been aware she'd wanted to get out of Lawrence just as badly. Even in her homesickness that had hit her hard over the Christmas season, she hadn't quite realized just how much she'd missed the warm weather. She missed Rome. She missed Capua. She missed Lucretia. There was only so much of her lifestyle that she could reclaim in this world in the modern time, but she had done what she could. Moriarty had given her a home, one she was most certainly grateful for. It had everything she'd wanted paired with the best of what modern technology had to offer.
But even her home could not truly compare to going to a warmer climate. To be able to go outside and lounge in the sun as she was far more accustomed to. The fact she was sharing this experience with Regina and Katherine made it all the sweeter. Katherine was truly the first friend she'd made here, having had a similar mindset to her. Regina was fast becoming a friend, and she enjoyed her company very much. Though the one thing she did not truly comprehend about both Katherine and Regina was their wanting to change their ways, to make up for their pasts. That was not a sentiment Gaia shared whatsoever. Gaia was not remotely sorry for things she'd done. She was what she was and she wasn't going to change for anything. If people didn't like her, they didn't like her, and she could care less.
Until she'd met Katherine and Regina, the only true friend she'd ever had was Lucretia. They had grown up together in Capua, and Lucretia had always understood her and accepted her for who she was. So the fact she could add more people to that list, including Galen, was something Gaia was still trying to adjust to. While she was a social person, Gaia hadn't ever expected to have multiple people living with her. When Galen had moved in, Gaia was fairly certain he'd be the only person to ever live with her, and that was fine by her. But then Regina had showed up and needed a place to stay. Gaia extended her an invitation not caring what she'd done in her past. Gaia wasn't an innocent herself by any stretch of the imagination, so she had no qualms about someone else with a colored past living with her. Then Gannicus had arrived, and she brought him home. She could have taken him to the complex, but she felt he might feel more comfortable living in a Roman style house than he would a completely modern building, especially while he was learning about this world. And even Katherine had stayed with them for a time when everyone's abilities had been taken away.
So this girl's time was sorely needed. Nothing against Galen or Gannicus, but Gaia did miss having girl time. And she was going to soak up as much of this experience as possible. Clad in a light green dress, one that was part of her wardrobe from Rome she'd wished here, Gaia made her way out of the villa and down to the beach. Once on the sand, she paused, drawing in a breath, the scent of the sea assaulting her senses. Yes, this is what she needed. She laid a towel down, and given that they had a private beach, Gaia slipped out of her dress, leaving herself fully nude. She laid down on the towel on her back, closing her eyes and soaking up the sun. A pleased smile curved her lips, and she couldn't help but feel she was almost home again. While Capua and Rome were not on the ocean, she had traveled to it on occasion with her late husband.
"Now this is the life," she said in Latin, allowing herself to relax.
