"I didn't say I was going to try it," she replied sassily, her voice tinged somewhere between annoyance and amusement. Because obviously she wasn't going to be attempting any sort of fancy spinning or even going backwards. "In fact, I didn't say anything. Quit pretending you can read my mind."
And despite her words, she was smiling. It was getting easier, holding his hand and using his arm as support. What she really wanted was to go home, curl up with him under a warm blanket, and do things that didn't involve athletic skills she apparently didn't have. But he actually seemed to be enjoying himself and how could she take that from him? It was so rare to see him smile anymore and she'd missed it, more than she could say.
So she simply squeezed his hand with hers and winced as she fought to keep her balance. "Next time I come up with a stupid idea, just tell me it's stupid so we can do something else. And remind me I hate winter." Even if she love the coat she'd found and the earmuffs and fine, winter boots were adorable. Twenty-first century winter looked good on her.
