People always misjudged children, not realizing that they helped the world go round. Just because they were small and it was big didn't mean anything. But until she had actual proof that the red headed lady was actually displaced and not someone who would make an issue if she was told about the crazy, Grace would hold her tongue on the matter.
Especially when she learned that there was a kitten stuck in the tree. It still didn't explain Jane's lack of proper dress for the weather, but it was definitely a pressing matter and one that would consume her if she didn't focus. Which okay, better than thinking about Javier and the daily torment at school but she also did need to get home relatively soon so as not to worry Jefferson.
"Papa and I found Binks in a tree."
Which meant that the nine year old knew how to get cats out of trees. Or at least Binks. And he hadn't been all that high up. Going over to the tree, Grace looked up and pressed her lips together in thought before going through her bag. There it was! Pulling out a tamborine made of paper plates and beans, Grace managed to coax the kitten to jump, blinking as it landed on her head.
