If Becker had thought he needed his gun on her, Abby probably would have smacked him. And gotten away with it. Because it was Abby and she didn't take kindly to guns being pointed on her. Not that anyone should take kindly to having guns pointed on them. But it was still entirely beside the point. Because Becker was there and that was... really good. So she wasn't certain when he was from yet, and as much as she loved Connor, having someone who had been through the same things she had would be nice. Connor knew from the telly but it was different.
"Let me guess, the kid who went through?"
She was hoping that was it. It was from right before she had gotten sick and then showed up in Lawrence. And there weren't too many cases where they went through anomalies anymore. Not since she and Connor and Danny Quinn got stuck in the past. Not since ARC was reconfigured and the rules changed.
"But right, not the anomaly's fault. Kind of hard to explain on the streets, though."
Because there were all the native people. Most of them had moved on, even the person Becker had shoved aside. But that didn't mean this was the place to have this particular discussion. And she had to get to work. She'd just use the newspaper Becker had to give to her boss. There was plenty to discuss, the entire situation, but for now, getting somewhere a bit more private.
And she was going to need to a cover story for her boss. Brother unexpectedly showing up? It worked, it was almost accurate. The unexpectedly showing up bit was definitely accurate. Stupid Seal. Even if for once she knew the person and actually liked the person at that.
