Who: Claudia and Helena What: Having that dreaded talk about what they experienced after being sent back home. When: Sunday afternoon Where: A restaurant of sorts not overly far from House Warehouse Warnings: SPOILERS for season 4 of Warehouse 13. There is angst here, oh so much angst. There will also be unpleasantness of the Warehouse kind.
This was a conversation that Helena was not looking forward to having. It reminded her of when her and Claudia were first here that she had to tell her about the Warehouse being destroyed, about her own death. Helena wasn't precisely certain what to expect from this conversation, though she knew it wouldn't be good. The Victorian woman was rather expecting the worst case scenario, which was saying something because Warehouse agents seemed to always encounter new "worst case scenarios." Helena herself was the cause of one such scenario. Knowing that the Astrolabe no doubt played a pivotal part in what Claudia had to tell her, Helena had a sinking feeling on the matter from the beginning. She was fully preparing herself for horrible news because in truth, she had no idea about what Myka, Claudia, Pete and Steve had been doing after saving the Warehouse and stopping Sykes. Helena only intimately knew what she'd been doing and what Artie, Mrs. Frederic and Leena were doing. Though in Leena's case, Helena had a slightly more accurate expectation as she'd left her research with the woman, entrusting her to be able to pick up where she left off in tracking down the dagger.
Though as much as Helena was worried about what Claudia had to tell her, she was also weighed down by her own part, in the Astrolabe actually being here in this world. It was a constant pressure, though she was resting easier that Loki's spell would only grant her access to it if the need arose. And Helena really did hope the Astrolabe would never have to come in to play in this world. But if it was absolutely needed, Helena would use it, and insist she be the one to do it. It was her job to keep it safe and to protect the others, and she would sacrifice herself to whatever evil it would create because it would keep the others safe from its direct effect.
Though Helena was different than she had been before she'd been taken back to her world. She was more guarded, always second-guessing herself on opening up about things, but she'd gotten through the initial shock of being back in Lawrence. She was settling back into life here. Not being alone was certainly having a positive effect on her. She was stable enough to once again take care of Emily and be a mother again. While Emily had been glad to see her again, it didn't take long for the little girl to pick up on the fact that Helena was different. It caused some distress to both of them, and no small amount of frustration on Helena's part. It was frustrating because Helena couldn't quite find the right way to calm Emily down, so she'd asked Svetlana about the matter before she lost control of the situation. Helena knew it would take time for her and Emily to bond again, that was part of the reason she'd chosen to move Emily into her room so they could spend more time together.
As such, Helena had opted for taking Emily with her to the restaurant she and Claudia were going to talk in. It was partly due to the fact Helena didn't want Emily to think she was leaving and not coming back again, and partly because Helena new how crucial it was to build a bond again. Claudia and Helena would have an added guest for their conversation, but at least Emily wasn't about to tell their secrets. The girl was only barely speaking as it was, and most often she would say Russian words, so Helena felt they would be safe enough. Arriving at the restaurant with Emily and Claudia, they got a table and a high chair that Helena strapped Emily into. She then gave the girl some paper and crayons she'd packed in a bag she'd brought with. Picking up the menu, she glanced over it, refreshing her mind on what was served here.
"I do hope you don't mind my having brought Emily along," she said, looking up at Claudia.
