Who: Eve and Xena What: Outcome of Eve's wish Where: Pax Eli When: The day after making her wish. Rating: Likely low Status: In Progress
Eve wasn’t sure what had come upon her when she’d made the wish. But helping people was of course something she’d had to do. It was a focus she had not had in a long time, perhaps all her life, beyond bloodshed and chaos and serving Ares in his War. He had forged a weapon in Livia. A weapon for him to take Rome. And coming here, it would have continued, a bloody wave of destruction. But then Eli had answered her mother’s prayers. Visiting her as a dead man, a ghost. He had shown Eve her true life, her true purpose and she’d come to see the life she was meant to lead. And it had taken her a long time to be okay again. A long time to understand the woman she had become because of this place. But then the bauble had appeared, singing its little song and doing what it did every year it seemed. And it had appeared almost as Ares had vanished, as the seal had taken her love from her, because evil or not, cruel or not, she loved the God of War. Maybe always would. Her mother did too, Eve could see that, plain as day.
So how better to move on than with an act of unbiased, unashamed love. She’d wished to help people, she’d wished for somewhere for those with no homes to go, where they could have food and drink and sleep. They had hardship in their lives and Eve would help them. And the bauble had vanished, a note in its place with an address.
She had gone there immediately and there it was. A shelter, some beds, some chairs, tables, places to talk and relax, stocked with foods and healthy drinks to keep them going. It was hers, she knew, it was hers and she would make a true success of it.
And its name? “Pax Eli” she said at a whisper. The Latin word for peace. The peace of Eli.
She would tell her story, as much of it as she could anyway, she would talk of her past and the wrongs she had done others, and how a simple man with a better way had changed her life. And how it was her turn now. To pass on what she knew, to be better, to help those down on their luck.
