Sometimes she wondered. He was always so hesitant to say the words and he really was closed off about so much of his life. She knew he loved her, but was it enough? When they'd first become engaged, it wouldn't have mattered. They weren't betrothed for love, they were betrothed for the combination of land and money and titles. And yet she'd loved him intensely regardless.
She still did. More now than ever. But that didn't make it easier, especially in this strange time they were living in. "I know you love me..." Her voice was soft and she finally crossed the room, taking a seat on the bed at his side. "But I did. There's a lot of things you don't tell me. And I did promise not to push, I meant that. But that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt."
