The Rani ([info]no_qualms) wrote in [info]wariscoming,

Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:james sirius potter, ron weasley, the rani

Who: The Rani Renee', Ron, and James
When: Saturday morning
Where: Renee's new 'office'.
Rating: Depends on Ron's dreams

The Rani had learned one important lesson years ago. Always have a contingency plan. Using this idea, she had always been careful to keep various monies, clothing, etc from various worlds stored in her TARDIS. She never knew just where or when she might need something.

Being whisked away to Earth, despite it not being her own idea, was actually not a bad thing. She had recently acquired a special device, one directly related to dreams, and had been looking for a species to test it on.

Humans would be perfect.

Once she'd come up with her plan and lured a few people in, she set about establishing herself. Thanks to a particular mind-controlling serum she had developed some time ago, she was easily able to talk a psychiatrist into giving up her office for a few days. If asked, she would merely respond that the woman had allowed her to borrow the office for several days. Despite the fact that she was 'new', she was in a similar field, so the woman felt honored to let her use it. A name change on the plate here, a few well-placed 'documents' there, and the Rani was now Dr Renee' Sinclair, pHd, with her own practice. It was laughable, how easy it had been.

After passing along her new address to this 'Ron' boy, she sat back and waited for the time to come. The dream stealer, as she called it, was locked into a drawer, but turned on, ready to hear whatever dreams and nightmares that were revealed. She herself had also locked her money into her desk, ready to give it to Ron upon completion of their talk. Remembering his fondness for sweets, mentioned on the boards, she placed a bowl of candy on her desk.

The Rani herself dressed carefully, wearing a crisp, peach colored business suit, her dark hair left loose to soften her face. When she heard the outer door open, she stood, smoothing her skirt, and allowed a welcoming smile to slide onto her lips.

Ron didn't see why everyone had been getting their knickers in a twist about the job opportunity. Did they not want him to work? Were they really that against him having money? It seemed laughable to think that out of all the dozens of people who posted on those boards lately, new or otherwise, that they had up and decided that this woman was immediately horrible because her first entry was about work. So what? Hermione liked to work. Would they have attacked her for posting about working and studying and needing a bit of help to do so? Ron didn't want to come off as badly as they had, nor did he want to miss a job opportunity, so he agreed to meet her despite what the others had been rambling on about. Ron was a grown man. He could take care of himself. In fact, he very much had done so before arriving here - did they really think that he would be daft enough to get himself caught up in some trap?

He had holy water in his jacket. Ron wasn't going to let anything here go too far without double checking to see if the woman was potentially a demon. He wasn't a moron. He knew what he was doing. Really.

Ron chose to knock before immediately wandering into her office. Fingers rapping against the doorframe, Ron peered into the office, spotting the rather normal looking woman waiting inside. "Uh, hello?" She really didn't look all that awful. He knew that demons weren't supposed to on sight, but Ron was feeling rather doubtful about the accusations having been made about her. All the same, he wouldn't let the holy water go to waste.

James had decided to tag along. Because he could. Because he was bored. And well, to be honest (the real reason) was because Romana's concerns. Some days it was a complete balancing act, that involved juggling on your feet to gain James respect (let's not even touch on how difficult it was to regain his respect once lost) and on other days it was something as simple as procuring one of those muggle tapes that had the image of someone he decidedly didn't like being punch by a very tiny (though super-strong) woman. It didn't hurt that he'd thought her classy, in quite the McGonagall fashion from the get-go. And the fact that she didn't give him disapproving looks, STILL even though he'd long graduated, over her classes helped Romana's case a lot.

Quite honestly, at first, James hadn't seen what the big deal was. Muggles did dumb things for money all the time. And while, he never would have considered letting is uncle Ron go without back-up, it wasn't as if Alistair was running around loose anymore. His uncle could defend himself. Nevertheless, here James was, hand in his pocket. Wondering if he'd get paid just for showing up by someone. Because like hell would he have people poking about in his neuroses.

The thing was his uncle Ron didn't know that he was playing back-up. At least he didn't think he did. He had mentioned that he would tag along but he wasn't sure if his uncle had caught it. Or if he had even told his uncle. James was usually more put together for certain things, for things he deemed important ... back up for family was important, but lately his mind had been in SO many places. It was very likely that he had forgotten to inform Ron. Which was why he didn't startle his uncle with a 'boo'. After all at twenty-one James HAD managed to find maturity. Instead, he startled him with a rap not too far from Ron's head-he made sure to side step any coming limbs-and a, "I think the door is open. Might want to try it.

"Uh, hello?" At the voice, the Rani's smile brightened even more, and she shifted to catch the young man's eye, beckoning him inside. "Come in, come in!"

The Rani liked her current regeneration. Her face was more trustworthy - people opened up to her more often, even when she didn't want them to. But hers was a face that was beautiful, and welcoming.

A moment later, another young man from the boards joined him. She didn't falter. Two sets of dreams were better than one, after all. Instead, she seemed to warm even more. "Hello, to both of you, and welcome. I'm Dr Sinclair, but you can call me Renee'. Please, come in, have a seat."

She waved towards the couch that was across from the desk, and sank into a cushioned chair that was diagonal from the couch itself, rather than stay from the desk. On a small table was a tea set that she had prepared.

For the wary, it contained only simple black tea. "Would either of you like some tea?"
