While Helena had a track record for saying what people wanted to hear in order to get on their good side, this was not such a case. She wanted to mend the damage done to their friendship that had been struck by her own hand, but doing so by plying Svetlana with words she wanted to hear was not within that plan. Given what she knew about Svetlana, actions spoke so much louder than words. Helena hadn't listened, and she needed to pay the price for that. At least that was something she could repent for easier than any of the other sins that hung on her soul.
"So am I. No doubt I would have gone mad again otherwise." It had been hard enough being alone and adjusting to her body again after the whole ordeal with Sykes, but with it had come the weight of her sins once again. It had seemed that her subconscious mind had given her the answers and tools she needed to help keep herself sane and moving ahead. Was she at peace with herself? Better than she had been before. She at least didn't carry Christina's death as heavily as she once had. She knew the darker part of herself would always be there no matter what, and she had been coming to accept that.
But of course now the peace was temporarily derailed by the Seal bringing her back here. The simple fact two distinct timelines, or even lifetimes, were currently within her mind, and she needed time to reconcile them, to let the memories and the feelings attached to them settle once more. And really, this sudden left turn wasn't anything new to Helena. Drastic change always unexpectedly happened to her one way or another and uprooted her life to some extent. Now she just hoped she could be here long enough to live normally once again. At least Moriarty wasn't going to kill her this time.
Which caused Helena to pause. "Has the Seal brought others back that had been here before?" She was more asking because of Irene. While Helena could handle the fact everything she'd been through here before was coming back to her, she wasn't so sure she could handle it if Irene was back. Or even a different Irene. That was not something she could handle now.
