John too had been watching the goat when Joan told him of the lack of fire. All he could do really was smirk faintly. "Give it time. Smell anything suspicious, don't hesitate." It was obvious they shared a similar taste of sarcastic humor. The only thing John knew for sure that his Sherlock had ever cooked was experiments for science. In their kitchen. Usually where food was meant to be prepared, so naturally he too was wary of a Sherlock that cooked. Sure he was a genius, but a genius chef? The image that created in his mind was amusing. Sherlock in a kitchen with other human beings that weren't experiments. Amusing and terrifying really.
During the attack on the complex John had surprised his friends and had taken to the front line in defending the building. Deep down he was still a soldier, one who would do the right thing to ensure the safety of those he cared about. Even though he had some issues with a few of the complex residents he did care about their safety and well being. That was the doctor that still remained in him. He'd taken some steps back from being said doctor, but it was still there underneath all the damaged parts. It probably would never fade that he actually cared.
Sherlock had once called him a conductor of light and the heart of things. He was the brain. He was pretty sure it was engraved in him to care, and sometimes John hated it. It could be very lonely and very tiring. There were times he thought it would be easier to simply shut down emotionally but Luke Skywalker had told him otherwise. Yes, the Jedi Luke Skywalker from Star Wars. He was still wrapping that around his head that the person who'd been trying to help him was a Jedi Knight.
"I used to work in the medbay, but lately I suppose I've just been trying to figure out what to do here." He paused. He wasn't sure how he was going to do it, but the fact that he wanted to improve his life was an improvement wasn't it? He looked up at her with a hint of amusement. "I'm also a bit of a blogger." He added trying to make light of a heavy situation he didn't want to talk about at a dinner party. "You?"
