Kon barely had enough strength left in him to fight back at this point. With all the dead and all the destruction and lack of power, was it really even worth it? Hitting the ground so hard had caused his wounds to tear open again and blood to stain the floor. He could taste it in the back of his throat which he doubted could be a good thing. Pretty sure blood in genera in ones mouth was bad. Kon had never felt so much pain in his life. His body felt like bricks, like it didn't want to keep moving anymore. He very nearly laid his arms down and simply let the monster have him.
Then Lois's voice came into earshot and he looked over. "Get back inside." He half growled as he pushed at the creature again managed to shove it off. He used his arm to wipe some blood from his lips and coughed. He was pretty sure this is what dying felt like, he'd been there before after all but the memories of it both times were pretty hazy.
He made a reach for the silver knife as he rolled away from it and coughed up more blood. This was getting ridiculous. He could barely catch his breath. That Hellhound had done more damage with one paw then he expected it could. The knife was still out of reach despite his best efforts to grab for it. His vision was blurring as he knelt there and gasped for air that he was having trouble getting.
If he'd had his super hearing he might have heard it, but at that moment everything was basically white noise. Down the hall something padded toward them. Something had it's eyes locked on them and then started growling as it reached the battered pair of it's remaining conscious family. A white lab stared down the creature with it's teeth bared an hair standing on end. A red collar around his neck and House of El symbol dangling from it. Krypto had found his way back to the complex on his own as he always did. Looking at Lois and Kon like nothing had even happened except his family was in danger. Krypto didn't hesitate at the scene, or run for it like most dogs might. Instead he noticed the knife Kon was trying to reach for and padded toward it to nudge it to his masters hand before ducking away to Lois's side and rubbing against her leg immediately. The dog was smart in staying out of the way while powerless.
Kon looked up and gave the dog a warm look before returning his attention back to the monster. If Krypto was with Lois he wouldn't worry as much. He waited for his opening and while the creature was distracted shoved the blade into it's chest and twisted for good measure.
