Who:Emma and Kon
What:Trying to visit Lois and failing.
When:Tonight
Where:Hospital
Warnings:CK is not for Clark Kent but for Cranky Kryptonians.

Lois was shot. That was the last thing he remembered before his mind decided to go screwy on him. There were times he was there and focused, and others he just didn't seem like himself. This was one of the later. He remained outside the hospital for the time being, he'd asked Allana to go in ahead of him and bring Clark the things he needed but he just couldn't go in yet. He knew how it must have looked, but he just couldn't make himself see her like that. Lois and Clark had always been sort of invincible to him. To see Lois laid up in a hospital bed was terrifying. She and Clark had been the only real family he'd ever known. He hadn't asked to be created, but he was and Clark had taken him in. Initially the older Kryptonian had been hesitant about it. Hell even tried to ignore him, but now they were so close it felt real. Kon was faced with the very real idea that Lois could die, and it scared him more then anything ever had. He had died twice and Clark had once. If Lois died what would happen to them?

She was the glue that kept them together. Even though she wasn't his Lois, she'd gone out of her way to get to know him and made sure he felt wanted. The last thing Kon wanted to do was lose that. To go back to things the way they were when he first met Clark. Strangers of the same DNA. Like distant cousins that only came around every so often on birthdays or special occasions and then disappeared with the wind. Kon wanted a family. A real family, and that was what he had with them. He paced infront of the hospital, probably looking much like a crazy person with his hands in his pockets and his eyes on the door. Almost as if he expected them to come out moments later.

Clark had said she was dying. Kon could vaguely hear her heart beat, but it seemed so weak. Finally he sat down on a stone planter box and ran a hand through his short dark hair. He looked a lot like Clark, same blue eyes and nearly the same physical features just smaller thanks to DNA. Go figure, all he had been worried about earlier in the day was a fifth period math test.

He was angry. Angry at the criminals who shot Lois, and angry at Lois and Clark as well. He had no idea what Lois was into, how dangerous it was. He should have heard it. He should have been able to stop it. The headphones Lois had given him still hung around his neck. They were sound proof ones. Kon was considering making this the last time he ever used them. If he'd had his ears open just maybe she wouldn't be in such critical condition. Maybe he wouldn't be on the verge of a mental panic attack.

Emma was reluctant to leave the waiting area. Any time away meant news could come that she would miss. Whether good or bad. Good was Lois awake and wondering why everyone was there and shouldn't they all be getting ready for Thanksgiving. Bad was... Well. Emma was a realist. She'd never been an optimist, not with her upbringing. And she wasn't much of a pessimist, either. Why invite trouble that wasn't there? But she did look at reality and she did know there was a possibility her friend wasn't going to pull through.

And she couldn't help but blame herself. Lois had been nothing short of amazing to her. Even when Emma had been wrapped up in one of the biggest mistakes of her life, Lois had never passed judgment. She'd offered her a friend when she'd needed it the most, a shoulder to lean on. With time, she'd become second only to Mary Margaret Blanchard on the list of women in Emma's life. And how had she repaid her? Getting her wrapped up in this mess, with people who she knew for a fact were trained killers. If Lois didn't make it, she'd blame herself forever.

That comforting spot by Graham's side was almost stifling the more she thought about her current situation. How could he want to be around her, knowing all that he did? Lois had allowed him to know what she was up to. He knew this was partially Emma's doing. Why he had volunteered to come, she would never know. So as much as she wanted to stay by in case there was an update, she took advantage of Kon's inability to go upstairs. She excused herself and bolted to the front lobby and out where Clark's...whatever he was, waited. She wouldn't call him a clone. That was too impersonal. Clark seemed too young to have a son that age. A brother, maybe. Whatever.

She found the dark haired boy looking sullen and a little panicked. Not that different than a teenaged Emma might have. Angry and confused and pissed off at the world. "There's no change," she began, leaning on the nearest wall to him. "She's still fighting. That's a good sign, at least."

Music had always been a source of comfort for Kon. Where words left off it began, able to fill in so many emotions he wasn't able to explain. The idea of not using headphones again was disheartening. It was an escape in a world where he heard more then the average human. On a daily basis he heard people dying and screaming from worlds away where he was unable to help. Music helped filter some of that. He wasn't sure how Clark did it. How he could keep his senses open for so long, listening to so much fear and panic all day long. Then Lois was injured, and Kon realized why he did it. They had to make sacrifices that most people should never have to deal with in a life time. They had gifts that were meant to help as many people as they possibly could. Maybe it was a little selfish to block out the noise for a few hours of the day. If he hadn't used them, Lois wouldn't be in this condition.

His throat was dry but he didn't want to get any water. He didn't feel hungry or bored as he normally did he just felt empty. He knew even after this, Lois wouldn't be more careful either. It was who she was. She was a reporter who put herself in the middle of crazy situations. Kon always knew it might be one of his friends or family in the hospital one day but he never expected Lois. Clark was always on her tail. He wanted to go inside and see him, go inside and be able to tell him it wasn't his fault but Kon was afraid. He could stare down Killiks and crazy alternate universe Clarks with no fear, but Lois being in the hospital brought it all to the forefront.

Figuring out their family titles was a complicated mess of a story. He wasn't sure what to call Clark beyond family. Clark had given him a name and a place to call his own, and now he was stuck outside. "How is that good?" He bit back angrily. Though it wasn't really her he was angry at necessarily. "She doesn't belong here." His eyes had a vague tint of red, though it didn't look as though he'd been crying.

Emma wasn't upset about the misplaced anger. She was angry, too. She was angry with Lois for getting herself this deep into something that should've stopped as soon as she'd turned it over to the police. She was angry with herself for ever being involved with the people who'd done this. Of course she was angry at the shooter, most likely one of the snipers he had been raising to find his next Moran. And him. Jim. Oh, she stayed angry with him for a multitude of reasons. Because it was easy to be angry at someone who couldn't fight back, who wasn't there to defend themselves from her rage.

The look she gave him was sympathetic but not pitying. She didn't pity him, even if maybe she should. She only knew his general backstory and therefore, didn't know all the reasons she could pity him if she chose to. But that wasn't her. Emma had her own set of reasons to be pitied. It didn't mean she wanted that feeling directed towards her by anyone. "It means she hasn't given up. As long as she's trying, it's good."

While Emma knew the young man could be dangerous, she wasn't afraid. Maybe it was that devil-may-care attitude she usually carried. Or maybe it was a side effect of the Boston foster care system. Never being afraid, even long after you should have been. Maybe if she'd been more afraid, this wouldn't have happened. Though the same could be said for Lois, too. "No, she shouldn't be in here. But it's Lois. She knew the risks, she knew what she was getting into. But this is her passion, it's what she loves. I can be furious with her all day. I can be mad at the entire world. But it isn't going to make her wake up."

Kon really didn't know much about Moriarty. He knew it was reckless to go into the field without all the information, but he still wanted to help. He still felt useless sitting and waiting for word from the doctors who seemed to want to take their sweet time in giving up any information. "Dick is probably interogating a doctor about now.." He trailed off with a small sigh and leaned against the planter box looking tired and sad. Feeling helpless was scary. Kon rubbed at his eyes in attempt to see a little more clearly through the anger that clouded them, but it didn't work much.

Pity wasn't something the boy ever would have wanted, so the fact she didn't was probably for the best. He didn't think he was in need of pity, why should anyone else? Save the pity for those weaker then him was his motto. He leaned back slighty and looked up at the moon and the starts. It was strange to think that some of the other worlds he'd visited back home now didn't even exist most likely. It made Earth seem so small and insignificant. He wondered how Clark found the strength to protect it. All Kon wanted to do was go home. Any minute Lois would walk out and chide him for being lazy and a scaredy cat and the three of them would go home together and have Thanksgiving. For a moment they could almost be a normal family.

If he could help it he wouldn't hurt Emma. He wouldn't hurt anyone, he didn't want to. Thanks to Luthor's programming though he wasn't entirely sure he had a choice. If he snapped would he be able to snap back? What happened when the next time they visited the hospital it was because of him? He was angry at Lois. When Emma spoke he raised an eyebrow. "Maybe we're not doing it good enough that's all." It was obvious he really didn't understand how people worked. They didn't just wake up from injury on command.
