Hearing about his sister, Helena's heart went out to him. She well knew the pain of losing one so close. That seemed to be another trait many Warehouse agents had in common, losing someone they loved. The life of an agent was not an easy one by any means. They all had to sacrifice so much for their job, but most would gladly do it because it was a job they loved. The people you worked with became family, were the only people you never had to lie to about your job, never had to make excuses for why you were gone longer than expected because an artifact proved more difficult to snag. But even the Warehouse had its secrets, agents could still keep secrets from others. The Warehouse had a way of changing people. For some, it changed them for the better, and others, it changed them for the worse.
"She thought you were flirting with her?" Helena couldn't help but chuckle herself. She hadn't needed Steve to tell her he was gay for her to realize that fact. Though that was probably due to the fact Helena could always sense that in others, know when someone favored the same gender as they themselves were. Which was probably because Helena herself was bisexual and had many years of experience on the matter. "No, it isn't fair. I'd be lying if I said there wasn't a part of me that wished the Seal would send me home. Death awaits to reclaim me as well, but my soul burning in Hell would be more welcome than enduring more loss in this world." Yes, Myka had been brought back here, but because the younger woman had little knowledge of what Helena had suffered through in this world, she felt like they were strangers again. Helena was no longer the woman she'd been before she'd been brought here. In some ways, she was stronger. She was letting go of Christina and she had embraced motherhood fully once more. But she was broken several times over. Her very spirit was now broken, and she wasn't certain she could pick herself back up from this.
"It is a blend. It's a recipe Svetlana gave me. It's supposed to help calm your nerves." Upon speaking of Svetlana, Helena lowered her gaze to the tea, her face falling more than it all ready had. For a second time she'd screwed up that friendship and she couldn't help but wonder if that was her last chance. She knew Svetlana didn't give chances to many. And again she was questioning how long it would be before she screwed up all of her other friendships. The explosion in Bruce's lab had reaffirmed what Pete had said to her once, that whenever she was around people got hurt and people died. She was just lucky that this time she was the only one who got hurt. Next time, she might inadvertently hurt someone else, and she didn't want that to happen.
