Jonathan blinked and whirled around not once or twice, but a few times as he tried to figure out what the hell had happened. One moment he was heading into the room with Andrew, inside of the highschool and the next second he was alone and outside and clearly not in Sunnydale anymore. From the sign across the street he was apparently in Kansas. He had no idea where in Kansas, but the ice cream shop was definitely stating that it was the best ice cream in the state of Kansas and he couldn’t come up with a reason why there would be a store in Sunnydale touting that belief. Not to mention he knew pretty much every store in the town and none of the ones on the street he was currently turning around on seemed at all familiar.
It didn’t take him long to frantically start plugging away at the walkie-talkie in his hand. “Andrew?” All that answered back was static. “I think I pulled a Dorothy somehow and I’m not exactly sure how that one’s possible since the only slippers I own are bunny ones and there was no tornado...” Not that it was that out there considering everything else he’d experienced in Sunnydale. Suddenly being teleported to another state wasn’t too hard to believe. He couldn't figure out why Andrew wouldn't have arrived with him considering they had been next to one another only seconds before. “Check check?”
Okay, the walkie-talkie definitely wasn’t working. He headed down the street, hoping he could find a store that was open that late at night and wouldn’t mind him using the phone or locate a payphone or a police station or someone that wouldn’t mind pointing him to the nearest bus station so he could start the trek back to California. He’d figure out the money situation later. First, he just needed to find some kind of answer as to where he was exactly and maybe how he’d arrived in Kansas.
