Right. That was maybe something she should have mentioned but Marguerite wasn't exactly thinking clearly at the moment between collapsing, fevers and missing rehearsal. And again, this was why going to the emergency room like her director probably wanted wouldn't have been a good thing. How could she explain her immune system then? On why a cold could turn into.... pneumonia. That wasn't terrifying at all.
And by not terrifying, it was. She knew that there was an illness that mirrored consumption, and both killed. It was fairly common to find someone from her previous life having died from it. Especially amongst the free women. No health care, poor living conditions, really, it was a death sentence to someone like Marguerite. Even after she had managed to advance enough in society to no longer need that to survive, where she was able to provide through acting before marrying Percy.
The comment that it wasn't as serious now just caused the French woman to quirk a brow. That was something she wouldn't believe until she saw it herself. To Marguerite, she had a death sentence and she had a feeling Percy would be feeling the same way. So even though she really didn't like the sounds of what Martha wanted her to do, needles in her arm and staying overnight, she also would sooner not die if at all possible.
"No, that is fine...."
The sooner she got better, the sooner she could yell at Peter for this whole mess. If he and Andrew hadn't been so ridiculous and sneaking out all the time, she wouldn't even be in this mess. Okay. Maybe she would depending on getting sick from people at the theatre, but Percy wouldn't have been subjected to it as well. Marguerite was unamused by this turn of events, because it was just supposed to be a cold and instead, she had a walking death sentence, that she would continue to believe was a walking death sentence until she was better and thus had the proof it wouldn't kill her.
The comment to Percy was met with Marguerite shooting her husband a look. He was getting the preventive measures whether he liked it or not. They weren't dealing with this twice.
