Sometimes, the conversations that were unwanted were the ones that were necessary. And for Svetlana to truly be able to help Helena, she needed to know these things. She wouldn't ask for details, if they came up then they came up. She knew that Helena had done unspeakable things to the men who killed Christina, she remembered that conversation. Her own admission to not knowing how she would have responded had the girls remained dead. How Helena said it was better not to know, that she not have that blood on her hands. And that was that. It was never really broached again until now. Her imagination could fill in some parts, but she'd rather not go that route. At least though, Helena hadn't fallen off that edge. Because if she did, if she hurt those Svetlana cared for... the blond didn't know if she could come back from that betrayal and loss. Helena had done as Anatoly had, even Darcy had only to a much deeper level of connecting with Svetlana before she had even realized it. And it was terrifying to know it could be ripped away by the Seal, or seemingly Helena herself.
The words she spoke about her betrayal of Myka just verified that fear, though she kept it masked, her expression neutral. She took in the words, the vocal tonality. Helena's posture. She knew the woman before her truly regretted what she had done.
"Moriarty does not count." And he didn't. He had caused a lot of pain to a lot of people. Had played them as though they were toys, as Molokov had done, only in far more fatal ways. His cruelty was in physical pain, guilt. A simple conversation turned deadly because he was bored and didn't care about lives. Molokov had just been more subtle. Until he focused on her. On her family. Until they had failed him in Bangkok. And then, well, appearances were kept up but she knew that as her life grew more difficult, it was from his orders. Just like the things Katya had done to her with the help of her father.
"Some things are better left until you know you can trust a person and that is perfectly fine. But when you say yourself you know the danger you can be, know that there is a chance to get to a point where you do not differentiate between friend and foe, someone that close to you needs to know that as well.."
Finishing her tea for now, Svetlana placed the glass on the table and listened as Helena analyzed what she had said in terms of her relationship with Anatoly.
"Basically, yes. I still say he did not need to chase after me, but I am thankful he did. Not only because he saved me, but because it made me realize what I was feeling was not something I could run from so I gave an actual relationship a chance.."
