"A shame for whom, precisely?" Percy countered with an arched brow. Because really, he couldn't help it. He did miss trading such lines with Marguerite.
It did still amaze him sometimes just how quickly he had fallen for her, and it was for a multitude of reasons. She was intelligent. She was witty. She could keep with him on several levels that he had never encountered with a woman before. Marguerite had captured his senses completely, and oh how he loved her. It had been a whirlwind romance, but even with the period of time when he had pulled away from her, he now knew she'd always been there and that he had been right to let her into his heart.
Moving on from that topic, he couldn't help but laugh at Marguerite's reasoning for choosing the salad over him.
"Oh my wounded heart!" Percy exclaimed playfully. "It is certainly a very lucky salad to have won your heart, my dear." He shook his head and smiled. Really, he did enjoy bantering with Marguerite, even if it was seemingly silly banter over a salad but that is how it went sometimes between them. And at least now he was only joking and teasing in a playful manner and not falling into being a fop and falling into ridiculous behavior.
Upon being asked to get plates, he nodded and moved over to the cupboard, opening it and pulling out plates for them. He did like being useful and helping Marguerite out where he could. Percy was more than able to do things for himself and help others with menial things. That was yet another thing that set him apart from many others of his class. He did not flounder and whine when there were no servants. He was a grown man and had two hands and two legs, he could get things for himself, and he could certainly help Marguerite when needed.
