They would indeed need to find something for him. While Percy was good at managing his finances, he wasn't certain he could do that for a job. The idea of sitting at a desk in a bank or what have you was very unappealing to him. No, he was the type that liked to have a hands-on approach to things. He liked being in the thick of things. It was how he worked best. Perhaps there was something he could find where he could work with people. Unlike others of his class, Percy loved to be right down with people regardless of class. He never looked down at people, never thought less of anyone from lower classes. He saw them as human beings, just like he was. This was, of course, providing they weren't blood-thirsty or causing harm to other people in a senseless way. He had a great sense of empathy for his fellow man, and he was not about to let people suffer if there was something he could do about it.
Upon hearing Marguerite's answer, he was, well, slightly taken aback. How could he not be? Though it was probably more from the fact Marguerite didn't hold things back when directly asked about them than anything. Even with his sensibilities, Percy would not have turned Marguerite away for knowing she'd been a freewoman. He loved her too much to let her go. In the areas where Marguerite was concerned, Percy's love for her overrode everything else. Even when he had thought she'd betrayed him, he hadn't divorced her because he did love her too much to push her back out onto the street. He would never do that to her. And this response didn't make him flinch or recoil in any matter. It did make sense how her and Armand had survived. He could try pointing out she could've taken a job as a maid, but knowing how such jobs went, Marguerite did not exactly have the temperament for being a maid.
"Well, I can't say anything on that matter. You would have made a terrible maid." He smirked a bit, making it obvious that was meant more as a compliment and a reference to her temperament than anything else. It was, however, amusing to think of Marguerite being a maid. No doubt she would've gotten in many an argument over people telling her what to do or how to do it.
"Good because there is no need for you to go back to that life. And I much prefer having you alone in bed." And a little gleam passed through his eyes, his words taking on more than one meaning yet again. He couldn't help it, Marguerite brought it out of him and she understood the teasing and sense of humor he had. It was just one of the things that made them fit so well together.
