Who: Buffy and Romana
What: Hunting for possible vampires
When: Afternoon
Where: A town in Colorado
Status: Incomplete

This was much more different than home, and she recognized that. It was easier to track down Vampires at home, they usually came to her, or sources told her where to find them. She'd didn't have snitches here, and graveyards didn't seem to be a local place to hang out. There wasn't any demon bars. She knew she was being an extreme bitch to the Winchesters, but she wasn't really concerned about that. Let them think what they want about her. It wasn't them she had to worry about, it was the people she was looking after.

Chasing down creatures wasn't going to become a habit unless they hurt the people at the residents. But these were vampires. Like the ones from her world, or not. Buffy had been wanting to find vampires almost since she arrived here. Faith had been right years ago, after a while of not killing vampires, you just got an itch.

Plus she had to learn if she could take them out. She had brought help as well, she hadn't come alone. She had wanted to at first, but then quickly realized that probably wasn't the smartest decision after the events that had just happened. As badly as she wanted the kill, she could still fight them with help.

They had tracked down the areas people had been attacked, and found out the information on the attacks that they could. Life would be easier if Willow was just here to hack the police files. But as it turned out, Romana hadn't been lying when she said she was a genius.

It was still light out when the search had started. Not being vampires that burned up in sunlight, she knew simply breaking down their walls wasn't going to help, but according to the bazillion questions she had pestered the Winchesters with, they just didn't like the sun, and usually slept in the day. She knew they could travel in large numbers. Same as home, and apparently they mated for life. Not the same, but they could be dealing with just a pair of vampires.

Despite how grossed out she was, she had got her hands on dead mans blood, which caused her to make faces at it when she unpacked it and hid it away in her clothes, handing some to Romana as well. She had attached the scythe to her belt, and then slipped on a coat. Thin enough to be worn in a summers evening but long enough to conceal the weapon if she didn't move the wrong way.

The attacks had proved to leave a bit of a pattern, so she started out with looking for places that would work in the center of them all. Most houses checked out to owners who had people who could witness their normalcy and food eating habits. They did however, find one house more secluded, and could really use some fixing up. Who the owners were, she wasn't sure. But getting close to sunset, Buffy found herself approaching the house quietly, set on getting a layout of the building.

Romana didn't like vampires. Even perfectly explainable by science ones like the ones she'd once met. They'd tried to turn her and it was decidedly a way she didn't want to go out. If it even would have worked. Would she have regenerated from the bloodloss, she didn't know. Either way here she was again with the Slayer out of her own world. Fighting an entirely different breed than either of them were used to. She hoped she'd been useful at least. Getting the information for her on where this house was, a little bit of computer knowledge went a long way. It wasn't 'hacking' per se. She'd simply disabled the passwords and barriers on her way in.

Buffy had fixated on one house, a little more out of the way, a little run down. Her instincts had apparently told her to check it out and Romana was mroe than happy to follow those. Even if the dead mans blood was decidedly distasteful.

"What would you like me to do Miss Su... Buffy" she corrected, she was too used to the politeness that came with her role as Lady President, or had until... She shook the thought off, no sense dwelling now after all. She was weaponless aside from the blood and a small handgun she would use to keep them back from her if she had to. And the sonic screwdriver, just in case, though of course that wasn't a weapon

Buffy looked to the side and arched an eyebrow when she was almost called 'Miss Summers' again, but cracked a smile when Romana caught herself. "Check to see how many points of entry we can find, then we break down the door." she said, looking to the house. "...or just walk in if its open." because that had happened before.

Looking over to Romana again, she frowned. "Do you want a sword or something?" she asked, having pack a few away in the trunk. "Their heads have to come off." and she didn't think a gun would do it. Or it would take a really lon ass time. "Unless you want me to do that part." she could take them off in one sweet, which made the deed just a little bit less disgusting. Hacking away at someones neck...she couldn't imagine.

She didn't want Romana going in there fully prepared. As far as Buffy knew, she knew what she had to about vampires, the only thing left was to actually meet one. And with any luck, they were just inside. Otherwise they were going to have to keep on looking, and rethink her plan.

"I can get through the door no problem. They wouldn't have deadlock seals here, vamires. It would be ridiculous if they did so we can get through the door without breaking it down. Unless you'd rather they hear that?"

Heads coming off, Romana had fought a Time War, she'd seen all sorts of awful things, done some of her own, but decapitating something. That could be all Buffy's. "You can do the fighting part if you'd like. I will keep them away from me with a gun and you can do the...decapitating"

Romana knew enough about vampires to know vaugely what she was doing, enough to follow orders anyway. She didn't know about this worlds where they were supernatural in origin and not in any way based in fact and logic and science. She still wasn't used to that. But she'd make herself be. Fact and logic had changed here. She had seen demons, she had seen unholy evil.

Let them hear it, or not let them hear it? It was always more entertaining when they saw it coming, but sneaking in gave them the element of surprise. Either way, they were going to have to fight them. "Doesn't matter." she decided. "If you can get in without making a sound, do that." she was really just use to kicking everything open.

Buffy smiled sligthtly, a tired smile. She didn't mind doing the killing, she could see why Romana wouldn't want to. Maybe it was a sign she was going this a bit too long when she just didn't care anymore. "You keep them back, I'll take care of them. But I'm not sure how affective a gun will be, so be very, very careful." she agreed, figuring Romana already got the picture that she shouldn't shoot Buffy by accident.

Pulling the Scythe out from under her clothing, she motioned for Romana to wait where she was until she checked out the back. It didn't take her long to do, and she came back around to the front. "No door, but there's lots of windows." the windows were covered, leaving her unable to actually see in there. "Ready?" she asked, heading toward the door.

She waited as instructed as Buffy looked out the back, keeping an eye on her own surroundings making sure she wasn't spotted and ready with her gun if it was. She wouldn't shoot to kill if she was attacked, mearly to wound. To put them out of the fight. Or surprise them long enough for Buffy to return. As it happened though she was not attacked. She was fine and when Buffy returned she was ready to fight alongside her, listening to the explaination of the surroundings Buffy gave her.

Romana nodded simply, and set to work with the sonic screwdriver, the locked door turning with a click. Her first job done she stepped back. Romana wasn't a Hunter or a Slayer but she knew how to play to her strengths, one didn't fight a Time War without learning a little. She knew the best ways for her to fight and where she was weaker, So Buffy would fight and she would back her up. She was a good aim, not spectacular but she was good enough not to shoot her partner in this.

"Ready" she responded with her usual calm.

Nodding once, Buffy gripped her scythe, and turned to the door. She was really going to have to ask about that screwdriver later, because she just didn't get it, at all. When she tried the door, sure enough, it was open. She pushed it open, and prayed it didn't squeak.

Of course it squeaked. She froze, for only a moment, but didn't hear or sense anything. Moving into the door, she didn't bother to turn around. She trusted Romana was behind her, and though she didn't know the woman too, too well she trusted that the woman had her back.

There was a staircase infront of them against the wall, to the right was a room with the door closed, and straight ahead toward the end of the hallway to be where the kitchen was. Room to the right first. Buffy pointed to the door, and then moved toward it.

Reaching out, she motioned for Romana to get ready just in case anything jumped out after them. Turning the handle as silently as she could, she pushed the door open, tense to see what would happen.
