Well that was something at least. Even if once again he'd managed to make an insult out of the fact Guy had just offered a gesture of trust. He could have poisoned him if he'd wanted but it wouldn't have been clean. It wouldn't have been a proper fight and if he was ever going to have beaten his foe it would have been at the end of a sword. He wasn't above such things of course, he'd have killed the King in his sleep if he'd had the chance to. But with Hood. It would have had to be right.
But that was a long time ago. That was a different life.
"You can't help yourself can you. Just drink would you, the next rounds on you." He wondered briefly as they talked was 'not completely inept' the closest the man could come to a compliment to him. It probably was. And whatever. He'd take it.
"There's no sense in being nice. They won't learn anything if I'm nice. Nothing worthwhile anyway. This war won't be nice." It was something Hood knew as well as he did. How messy they got. How twisted things could get. At least he was smart enough to know they would only survive as allies.
"All you need to know is she became a monster worse than anything you could accuse me of. Seems there's a curse to my family. But as you say, common enemy. And there's no sense adding to the infighting. Though I am curious why you decided you needed to drink with me to cement this alliance. I'd rather thought you'd prefer to ignore me as much as you possibly could."
