She nodded faintly at his words, her shoulders shaking faintly as the tears continued to fall. Tess's arms tightened slowly around him. A part of her knew, really, that she was becoming too dependent on him, and vice versa. But she couldn't help it. She had so few friends there, and he'd been kind...she had begun to even fall for him in the past few weeks.
Taking another deep breath as she grabbed for her control, Tess's hands tightened on his shirt for a moment, then relaxed again. She slowly raised her head as the tears ended, and one hand let go of Pete so she could wipe her eyes. Focusing on him, she gave a faint smile.
"I...think I'm ready to get off of the floor now."
