She grinned and kissed his hand, before pressing the fingers to his cheek, giving him yet another of the promised cheek kisses, before leaving the room, leaning against the wall for a moment outside the apartment to bury her head in her hand, giving a strangled sob, hands sliding down to cling to her arms, nails digging in as she struggled against herself.
She took a deep, gasping breath, wiping her eyes and sniffling, wiping her nose on her sweatshirt's sleeve as he moved down the hall. She couldn't put up with this, right now. She had done her grieving three years ago whens he first lost them...it shouldn't matter anymore.
She paused on the street, looking up at the night sky above her, squeezing her eyes shut tightly, feeling the liquid escaping anyway, following the sticky trails of tears that had already fallen. “I miss you, mommy,” she whispered, blinking her eyes open, the stars blurred as she tried to clear the tears from them.
She turned her attention back to the street, and wrapped her arms around herself in an abstract hug as she made her way to the nearest store she could get liquor from.
It took ten minutes for her to return, purchasing the needed alcohol, and pausing to clean her face, erasing evidence of her own break down and re-applying her mascara and eyeliner. “I'm back!” she called out, forcing a cheery note into her tone as she stepped back into the kitchen.
