"I..." Clark really didn't want to be the one to break the news to this woman about Jason. What had happened to those captured by Alastair had been far from pretty. Clark would have known - he was the one who had to speed out most of the people that had been captured. Lifting each body from the surrounding rooms and rushing them out to Claire so that she could heal the individuals that had been reduced to nothing more than bleeding piles of mess had been a terrible experience. Certainly not as awful as being among the tortured, but Clark never wanted to have to carry the mangled bodies of his friends around like that every again.
"Jason is..." Clark frowned, mentally going over how to put it in a way that wasn't going to horrify poor Sookie. "He was...hurt." The frown deepened. "Attacked, actually. It's a very long story, but to put it in simple terms? He had a really hard time recently. There was this demon who sort of...took people and did some really bad things to them. Jason was one of them." Clark would not say tortured. He refused to.
Clark was sort of glad that she had his jacket on. The outfit she'd been wearing was sort of...small. Revealing, even. While he had the decency to keep his eyes to himself, he couldn't say the same for anyone else who might have chosen to pass through the area. That problem was solved, but there was still the shoe related issue. What had she been doing before being zapped here anyway?
"Well, there aren't any heatwaves here," Clark pointed out, shaking his head. "Not as severe as the one you seemed to be having, anyway." It must have been hot. Really hot. "The apartments are pretty far from here, actually. I, uh...do you think you're gonna be okay walking without any shoes?"
He supposed he could always speed them both over there. It wasn't as though everyone who stayed at the apartments didn't know his secret anyway; it was only a matter of time before Sookie found out as well. Yet, he didn't want to scare her. She was still new, after all.
