He was happy to be there with her, to wait as long as she needed to as she clung to him, taking likely just as much comfort from it as she was. He would never tire of how perfectly she fit in his arms, yet more proof to him that they were, and always had been, meant to be together.
"We can hope that where ever they've gone to, they're happy. That they're together there, with friends." That was the best, the only way to look at this situation without losing hope.
He smiled warmly at both the expression on her face, and the words she spoke when she looked up at him, his eyes regaining that certain look, that hint of mischief, his tone carrying certainty when there was no reason to have any. "Of course we will."
He lowered his arms from around her. "Come on, let's go inside before we start any nasty rumours." With a wink, he moved ahead of her in to the main room.
