Enigma leaned her chair back, sipping the coffee she had bought as she people watched through the yellowed sunglasses she had...acquired since arriving in Kansas. She had arrived wearing her ‘uniform’ and refused to keep wearing that or whatever cast asides they had left for new arrivals. Besides, no one would mind an outfit missing when she was leaving alone everything else and trying to go straight.
She took another sip of the coffee, giving a heavy, soul deep sigh, resting her chin in her hand as she continued to stare at those around her, fighting back the urge to just turn into a normal teenage girl and throw a fit. She long had experience burying her emotions inside herself, swallowing them down until she couldn’t even feel them anymore, but right now, in this moment, too many of them were swamping her, eating at her, bringing up older emotions that she had thought long gone.
Like her regret over her friends.
She glanced around the small cafe, before opening her coffee and dumping in the small bottle of whiskey she had acquired along with the clothing, before returning the lid and taking a long drink of the doctored coffee, desperate to use the alcohol to bury those emotions and memories again, wishing she could return to yesterday when everything seemed so easy.
When she didn’t have to grow up and be mature about life. and everything that went with it.
