Protecting those you loved. That was a concept Helena was just beginning to understand once again. When it came down to it, she had made the ultimate sacrifice to do just that. Despite the fact she was certain Artie still hated her and Pete was just starting to come around to her, she still gave up her life to save them because it was the right thing to do. As long as agents survived, Sykes would never win because the Warehouse would go on. They could rebuild it if needed. Yet even as she'd made that sacrifice willingly, she felt that by being alive right now, her sacrifice was meaningless.
"I am sorry, but am glad that I intervened before you shot it into oblivion and beyond repair with the Tesla." She smiled at him. If some day she could have half as much nobility as Pete did, then she'd be a good person.
At Pete's suggestion, she arched an eyebrow and tilted her head. "That isn't such a bad idea. I could certainly manage something given enough resources." At the mention of someone finding a way to misuse it, she looked up at Pete for a moment. "No matter how helpful or useful something may be, there is always someone who can misuse it." Helena was including herself in that statement because she was guilty of it.
Helena didn't really care how people viewed her holding hands with Pete. It was friendly, platonic and oddly comforting. Pete wasn't fueling her with emotion, which was a good thing. She was trying to stay rational for the meantime. Given the nature of the talk they were going to have, she was fairly certain she would be upset on some emotional level just because of the things they needed to discuss.
Nodding, she walked along with Pete. She flipped some hair out of her face and glanced up at the sky. It was seemingly endless, full of so much potential and endless dreams. How many times had she admired it in her lifetime? How many times had she dreamed of life on other planets? How many times had she dreamed of the wonders the cosmos held? And how long had it been since she'd last dreamed in such a way? She wanted that back, but she did wonder if she could ever truly achieve it again. After all, her soul was far too tainted, much too twisted from what it had been back then.
