It had been within moments of being Tesla'ed to oblivion. What few of the others realized and maybe Helena was the only one who did, was that when your loved one, when the people you cared about, were in danger, you didn't stop because it might be a prank, because it seemed to crazy to be real. You didn't stop because it was a thing that was scary, or even incredibly illogical, If those yo0u cared about were in danger, you charged the enemy with everything you had and you did not let up until you knew they were safe, Period. Sure, he looked like an idiot now, for all the network to see, but he wouldn't regret a moment of it.
"Mildly. An angry, at the time. Good thing you came down. I was almost where I stashed the emergency Tesla." He'd seemed, likely, like a raving idiot, but he had pushed the others back, and then moved to engage the thing, and drawn it toward where he had the Tesla, where he had planted it his first night.
"Have you considered making one able to house a man but arming it only with Tesla emplacements?" then he shook his head. "Nah, Still a bad idea. Someone would find a way to misuse it." He grumped a little as he walked with her out, and down the path
He smiled, holding her hand, not in a romantic way, but... well, because it felt nice, damn it. She was his friend, and one of his partners. Let the world misunderstand. She was more important.
