Pete was down a moment later, clad in a tee and jeans, and a windbreaker curt to conceal his weapon.
He smiled at her and descended on her and hugged her, a big hug, "Hey, HG! How are you?"
He was nervous, and terrified, and hopeful. A lot of what he had already told her was unknown to anyone, even his sponsor. And a lot of what he planned to tell her was equally new to others' ears. But it was time to talk, time to open, and in the hope of it, help her do the same.
Pete could trust her. He knew he could.
he just had to remind his stupid heart of it. It was afraid, as usual.
He smiled to her after the hug and nodded. "Ready to go?"
