His mind had a lot to take in when she first opened the door. There was the sheer joy at seeing her in front of him. Looking well, for which he was immensely relieved, and also looking beautiful, for which he was not at all surprised. She had always been, and would always remain, the most beautiful woman he had ever known.
"Hello Marian," he replied warmly when she spoke, seeing how shocked she looked, almost as though she didn't believe what she was seeing. He knew the feeling. Hearing that she was here from Gisborne was not what he considered a reliable source, and he had been terrified at the thought of what might have happened to her. Particularly since Gisborne had known, said, she wanted to be with Robin. That couldn't have been news well met by the other man.
Before he could give the thought much more consideration, she had thrown herself forward and in to his arms. He happily put his arms around her, holding her close, his face by her hair. He took in the feel of her, the smell of her, everything. She'd always felt as though she fit perfectly in his arms, and he'd always loved that.
"It is so good to see you," he spoke quietly, by her ear. "Despite the circumstances."
