Robin wouldn't entirely find the Marian he'd left behind, however. She was from several months after him. She'd been through so much that he hadn't. Not only her death, though she knew that would be...difficult. Allan's betrayal and ultimate turn around. The passing of her father. Their engagement and eventual marriage. All of that equaled a changed woman. Throw in a few days in Lawrence, Kansas, and Robin would be surprised not only by the subtle changes in her demeanor, but also in her style. Lois had talked her into a few modern dresses and even some jeans. Her hair was the same, long and loose, but she was dressed in a fresh and rather stylish sundress. Who could blame her, she had the best shopping buddy Kansas had to offer.
She was a bit hesitant about opening the door. The first time she'd done so since arriving here with Lancelot, it had been Lois with a notice that Guy was looking for her and would burn the place to the ground if he didn't know she was safe. Thanks to that, opening the door left her wary. So she eased it open and nearly fainted.
"R-Robin?" she said softly, at first not quite believing he was there. It wasn't how her life worked. Life cost her a mother far too young and a father who died proving his bravery to her. Life gave her Robin, then took him away, then brought him back in the worst possible ways. And life brought her to this place only to find Guy of Gisborne, the man who'd see her dead rather than married to another man, as her neighbor.
She didn't hesitate long, though. What better way to make sure it was really him than to touch him? Which she did when she threw the door the rest of the way open and flew into his arms.
