"I took her to the med bay," he told her quietly, drawing in a breath and letting it out slowly. Something Chloe would never do again. "Do you...want to go there?" He looked down at the floor for a moment, not really wanting to go back there right then, but if Lois wanted to see her cousin, he'd go with her without hesitation.
Chloe hadn't been injured. There hadn't been a mark on her. It looked like she had just gone to sleep and not woken back up. He wondered if despite the lack of injuries, if it had been painful. He hoped not. Thinking that it might have been otherwise made his stomach turn. He shifted his gaze to Lois once more, taking in her blank expression. He wanted to comfort her, to say or do something, that would make this right, but there was nothing to be done. No comfort to be had.
She wouldn't accept it, and he just didn't have anything in him to give anyway.
