Kon knew next to nothing about fashion or latest trends, so he tried to leave it up to Lois to just pick out whatever she thought looked good. But some of her tastes were a bit beyond his comprehension. He felt a little awkward shopping with her, what did it mean? Was she a thing with Clark? Did it mean anythinga t all or was it just shopping? The relationship-or non relationship as Clark had put it that they had thrown together was confusing him. He couldn't wrap his teenage brain around it, so he just stopped trying. He just stopped fighting it and let Lois do whatever it was that Lois's did best at the mall and trusted the bag of clothes in her arm wasn't going to make him look like a drag queen.
"Yep. Pizza, burgers, fries, all of it is good. The three basic high school food groups." He wasn't that much different from the ordinary teenager on the outside. He was able to mimic them and everything, but really that was all it was in the end. A mimic. Clark had taught him about humanity the best he could by introducing him to the Teen Titans and friends like Tim and Bart, but Kon was still learning. There were some things that just went straight over his head, like shopping. He would never learn what was so exciting about shopping.
If it were a kitchen store he might have been more interested, or a video game store would have caught his eye. But clothes were just things that kept him from wandering the streets naked and being arrested for public indecency. He didn't see much in them beyond that. Lois seemed a bit bothered by it, and Kon didn't understand. Insead he watched her with a mild curiosity and just handwaved most things.
