And Henry truly meant that. He even offered a small smile to let her know that before pushing the comic book he had out toward Marguerite. It was one of the Action Comics, featuring Superman, as that was Henry’s favorite Superhero. Some thought it was the whole adoption angle that had him liking the guy from Smallville most, but really it was because of the never ending theme of hope that ran through the books. Sure he liked Batman and all the others, but even when Superman comics got dark there was always that undercurrent of hope that had Henry believing things would turn out okay in the end.
“That’s Superman,” he told her, pointing to the man on the cover. “He’s an alien--but not like how people talk about people from other countries being aliens. He’s like from another planet called Krypton. Except Krypton was destroyed and his mom and dad sent him to grow up here when he was just a baby. The Kents found him and raised him and he like grew up as Clark Kent and he has all these really cool powers and when he puts on the suit he’s Superman and he saves people. From all kinds of things.”
He flipped open the book to show her some of the things the man in question could save, probably a little too quickly for her to really get a good look. “And he’s here, but Emma says he doesn’t know he’s actually married to Lois and we’re not supposed to bring it up because it’d make things awkward.” Which he thought was a bit silly but time travel was a weird thing and he wasn’t about to disobey Emma on that request. “But not everyone knows that Clark Kent is Superman. Except here we do because he’s fictional here, but I guess not where he’s from? Which makes sense because like most people think my grandma is fictional and she’s not. She’s real.”
Not that he could really blame anyone for not believing the whole Snow White isn't real part. It was a bit to take in.
