Merlin stood on one of the strangely coated roads and stared about him. What strange place had he woken in? There were strange horseless carriages made of a metal like and yet unlike iron, and there were weird things that people held that they spoke into They seemed quite intent to do so. It seemed almost like little magic mirrors, but there had been no image in the face of the one he had borrowed from the young girl and her friends. She had been odd and had made an odd comment about his tunic and pants, which still confused him. So now, having bid her and her friends goodbye, he stood and looked around. Or rather, he did, until one of the horseless carriages made a loud noise at him, as of a horn of old, and he turned to look at it. The driver was yelling and waving his hands at Merlin, and Merlin sighed and pointed. The carriage, rising, floated over his head, and landed on the other side. Idiot mortals, did they not know it was foolish to annoy wizards? With a shake of his head, he walked to the strange area beside the road, where all those walking seemed to walk, and started down it. Perhaps he could find some answers at the building he had glimpsed so near, labeled in letters that declared it the house Wal-Mart. He did not know that house, but he headed for it anyway. Perhaps it's Lord could grant him some information. He approached the doors, viewing others pass through them. Magic seemed to abound here... though he suspected it might not be magic, but something else, something much worse. As he stepped through those doors carefully, he winced. He feared these people had mastered the art of science, and if so, his life was going to get a lot more complicated. If all of this was science, then he had seen no magic since he had come, and that meant... he sighed. Oh dear Lord above. He looked about him in the store, and stared. What had he walked into now? |
