"And what did I do to your Aunt, exactly? Because I'm not recalling a single thing at all." She arched an eyebrow at him. She doubted it would be that simple to trick him into telling her something about whatever sort of future she may have to look forward to if she ever got sent home, but it was worth a shot anyway.
"But didn't. Because I did the same thing she did and got around it. Maybe she did it a different way, but she didn't want to die in that damn ritual any more than I did. I did what I knew I could do to get out of it." She shook her head. "I had no one to put faith in, Jeremy. That's what you don't understand."
