Who: Ryoko, but OTA. What: Ryoko's completely uneventful arrival. When: Starts early morning, but ends in the middle of the night. Where: Some street in Lawrence. Status: Open, totally. Warnings: A little bit of Ryoko being indecent and possibly language. Surprisingly, there shouldn't be much here. I think.
Ryoko growled inwardly from behind the gag she wore. She was bored of listening to Mihoshi and Washu talk about Dr. Clay and the mystery of who hired him. In fact, she wasn't just bored, she was getting angry. There those two were sitting and gabbing over a meal in the lab while she was strapped to this strange device of Washu's. She was held aloft, her feet far off the ground, metal bonds on her limbs with tubes and wires leading to each brace. The headgear she wore with the bulbs was weighing down on her silver blue hair and giving her a headache, though it was more out of annoyance than actual pain. What was all this for? More poking and prodding? Wasn't her existence enough of a experiment for her so called mother? She rolled her eyes at her situation and squirmed, trying to get her gag to come off so she could give Washu a very loud piece of her mind. Oh the things she- Ryoko's thoughts halted as she noticed Mihoshi had left and Washu was leaving as well. By the time she'd gotten the gag off the lab was empty. Ryoko shouted and demanded that someone let her out, but she received no reply. Struggling with her bonds, she tried to break herself free, but failed miserably. The more she struggled the more desperate she felt as the silence weighed down on her. She could practically feel the darkness suffocating her as she hung there, seemingly forgotten to the world. She barely recognized her own whimpering voice as she succumbed to begging for help. So desperate to escape, Ryoko let out another wail. "Mommy? Please release me! Let me go... Don't leave me behind here.. I don't want to be alone!!!"
She closed her eyes with another whimper and she felt herself falling, her bonds mysteriously gone. Much to her surprise, she didn't touch the ground which should have only been a few feet below. Her eyes opened and she discovered her surroundings had changed completely. She was no longer in the cold dark lab, but she was high above a town and dropping like a rock. She quickly righted herself, hovering in one spot. The sun was shining and she could feel the warmth on her skin. Oh how good the outdoors felt after being cooped up just a few scant moments ago. After a few moments of basking in joyous freedom, Ryoko realized there was something very wrong. Her connection to Ryo-Ohki was gone. With a frown she focused her thoughts and tried to contact her sister. When there was nothing but an empty void Ryoko's heart started to beat slightly quicker. She tried again, this time in search of her mother Washu. When she felt nothing a panic started to rise. What had happened? Where were they? Where was Tenchi? Where was she?
Like a bat out of hell, Ryoko shot out of the sky and flew down toward the streets below. She flew toward a small group of teenagers chatting away and she grabbed one by the collar. "Where am I?" Ryoko asked, her increasing rage barely being held in check.
The poor sixteen year old in her hands realized he was in trouble when she easily lifted him off the sidewalk even as she herself hovered above the ground. His friends bolted as she flashed them a dangerous glare and energy started to crackle in the air around her right hand. "Can't.. breathe.." He wheezed out. Her glare never wavered but she loosened her grip to allow him some air. "You.. you're naked..." he managed to stammer. It's all he could reply with as he had no idea what she'd said.
Ryoko furrowed her brow and looked down at herself. Naked? Not quite, but close enough. She was clad only in the red tank top she'd been wearing in the lab and absolutely nothing else. With a roll of her eyes, Ryoko manipulated the matter of the shirt to spread over body and created a form fitting body suit. She wouldn't even have bothered with that, but the way the guy was staring she knew he'd be of no use if he was distracted. Why were people such prudes about being naked? She gave the boy a shake. "Where. Am. I." At the boy's confused look, she realized she was speaking in Japanese. It took her another moment to recognize that he'd spoken in English and so she switched over to it as well, silently thanking (albeit bitterly) Washu for having the good sense to keep her up to date on Earth languages. Maybe one day she'd even know exactly how her 'mother' did so. "I repeat, where the hell am I?"
"Lawrence, Kansas." The boy whimpered in reply, his hand clenching his cell phone tightly as though it were a lifeline. "It's in the USA!"
USA? Her brow furrowed in thought. "USA.. United States of America?" At least that explained the English dialect. She dropped the boy on the pavement, but not without snatching the phone from his hand before he stumbled away from her in a panic. The alien floated there for a few minutes, lost in thought. She paid no heed to the fact she was likely drawing attention to herself. Here she was, a strange young woman with a mane of wild spiked silvery blue hair wearing only a skintight red bodysuit and floating in midair. Luckily she'd allowed the energy she'd been gathering to dissipate instead of shooting anything, so that was one less thing for bystanders to worry about for the moment. She looked around and sighed. Which way was the closest route to Japan? Her yellow eyed gaze fell onto a bus stop shelter. With a scowl, she teleported the few feet above it and sat down on the roof. Her method of travel startled the few people that were huddled inside, no doubt terrified of her, and they chose to flee rather than see what she was up to. Ryoko took a closer look at the phone she'd stolen and managed to look both irritated and bored at the same time. The phone wasn't nearly as clunky as the ones she'd seen in Japan and had plenty of more options. Hell, even Tenchi's father had a pretty junk worthy looking one in comparison. Still, after a few moments of browsing on it's touch screen, wondering why the date said 2012, and openly mocking the pictures of the owner on it, she dialed home.
"The number you dialed is not a working number." Ryoko stared at the phone and tried again, this time with Yosho's number at the shrine. "The number you dialed is not a working number." Her frustration growing she tried once more, attempting to reach anyone, even Tenchi's father Nobuyuki. "The number you dialed is not a working number."
With a low growl, Ryoko crushed the phone in her hand. She tried to take a calming breath even as the air around her crackled with energy again. Without warning she let out a scream of frustration and a car on the curb next to her exploded from the energy she lashed out at it. Bystanders screamed and did whatever silly little humans did in these situations as Ryoko shot off from the the bus shelter and flew back into the sky, the speed of her flight leaving a wake of energy trailing after her, causing the glass of the shelter to shatter and the metal frame to collapse. She flew far and as fast as she could toward what she hoped was Japan, her intent on reaching home and finding out that this was simply a mistake. Maybe there was a malfunction in the phone lines because of something Washu did. But when she managed to arrive where the Masaki shrine and their mixed household should have been, there was nothing but hillsides and trees. She teleported this way and that, and even phased through the ground itself, all in search of some sign of her home. Finding nothing, not even a single carrot field of theirs, Ryoko let out a cry of distress and sent a wave of telekinetic energy crashing around her that left trees obliterated and the ground a smoking crater.
She flew off again, not really thinking about where she was going. Hot tears threatened to fall as the loss she was feeling began to strengthen. What kind of personal hell had she found herself in now? It wasn't until Ryoko chanced a look below that she realized her instincts had brought her back to Lawrence. In fact they'd brought her to the exact spot she'd arrived only it was well after dark, her round trip having taken her longer than what she was used to. Ryoko hovered amidst the clouds, but not even the sky was a comfort now. She was just as alone as she was when Washu had left her in the lab. She'd spent so much time with Tenchi and the others that she'd almost forgotten what being left behind was like. She tried to swallow the angst that was threatening to overwhelm her and instead decided to focus on what she needed to do, but it was a hard struggle, and she barely won. She looked down at the city below and there was a brief idea of doing some more damage to let off some steam, but she could practically see Tenchi's disapproval. No, she could do better this time. Maybe she could make Tenchi proud even if he wasn't here to see it. Ryoko decided what she needed was information, the more she knew the more likely she could find out what was going on. A twinge of regret at crushing that phone filtered through her thoughts and she thought about grabbing another one, but she could just imagine Tenchi frowning at her behavior so far. It also occurred to her that because of the scene she had made on her arrival there were probably cops looking for her by now. "Damn it," she swore as she looked down at herself. She wasn't exactly going to blend in if she went back down there. She manipulated the matter on her suit again, this time altering her outfit to mimic a simple striped shirt with black pants and black boots she had once seen some girl wearing on television. Her massive mane of hair was still sticking out, so she smoothed it down as best she could while pulling it into a ponytail held with a red ribbon she created for herself. It wasn't the most convincing of disguises, but it would have to do for now. Besides, it was dark so maybe there wouldn't be as many people to notice her.
After a few brief teleports around the area to get her bearings, the alien eventually found herself in an alley and frowned. She still had no idea where to go but she started to walk towards the sidewalk. "Now, where do Earth people go for information anyway," she wondered to herself as she exited the alley. "They still do libraries here, don't they?" Even if they didn't, Ryoko could always head toward a school. Maybe she could even try to avoid demolishing it this time around... It wasn't as if she had Tenchi to play with this time around.
