Was Anatoly hovering right now? By his standards, no, he wasn't. If he was hovering, he'd be fretting and trying to get Myka to tell him every single thing going through her mind. Or basically be the mother hen he tended to be with Svetlana sometimes. Well all right, more than sometimes. But he was a worrier by nature, was that so wrong? He knew it annoyed Svetlana more often than not, but he couldn't not worry. So really, Myka should count her blessings that she wasn't getting the mother hen treatment. Because if she was, Anatoly would probably be in a lot of physical pain as a result. And the mother hen and hovering only emerged once he trusted someone and knew them well.
The Russian was rather glad Myka didn't hit him. He deserved it, yes, but he'd taken a beating for it all ready, and he would continue to take a beating it for a while to come yet. Guilt was really a wonderful thing to feel, and Anatoly was fairly certain he could drown the entire country of Russia with it. But that was beside the point.
"Of course they do. Maybe not during the time you may know them, but no one is perfect. We all have doubts and conflicts and things that happen to change us or push us off of the path we were on. But even if we lose our way, it can still be reclaimed as long as we are committed to it." Not everyone wished to go back to the way things had been before. Not everyone could see the error of their ways. But sometimes people like Anatoly got to see where they went wrong and were given a chance to make things right. A chance to reclaim the life and happiness they once had. And if he could get that chance, Myka certainly could when she'd never done anything wrong. Yes she might have been blind to Helena's larger game, but the fact of the matter remained that that didn't make Myka the bad guy. It just showed she had yet to really deal with what had happened given the time that had elapsed since that incident.
"That's good. I'm sure there is something you can find that will help give you the act of doing something." No doubt there were many things Myka could excel at. It was merely a matter of finding out what she wanted to do and pursue it.
