So his responses were also to find out more about Myka and what she needed. Because he couldn't take the Svetlana Approach in this case. It had been years since he'd done this on the spur of the moment like this because until now, Svetlana had been the only person he'd needed to interact with in such a way. Now he needed to use it to help Myka as best as he could. It was obvious she needed to talk even when she'd said she didn't, so perhaps just letting her get things off her chest would take the edge off just enough that she could calm down. He wasn't about to sit there and drag everything out of her, especially not in a public setting. That would only come when he knew her better and if she didn't have anyone else to help her before hand.
Anatoly did understand the concept of it being hard to carry something with you when it wasn't just an idea. He'd had those feelings before, but not about something like the Warehouse. Though he listened as Myka talked about it a little more. Even though she didn't get overly specific beyond dangerous artifacts. He still didn't understand what exactly the Janus Coin was, but he figured that was one of the things this Warehouse kept. Which would make it kind of like a vault of sorts. All right, that made it more tangible for him to picture. But leaving a place that was home, or felt like home. That he knew well.
"I know well what it is to walk away from a place that is your home, a place you love more than anything else. I defected from my family in search of freedom. All I found was emptiness because my family is my heart and my soul. It hurts, and going back is hard, but for a place where you feel completely alive, it is worth all the pain you have to work through to return." It was strange for him to talk about his defection to someone that wasn't Svetlana. But it was also a good thing. It was still a topic he found difficult to handle, but at the same time it didn't hold him back any longer. And he hoped that in Myka knowing that, she would feel more at ease in the future for broaching the subject if she wanted.
"The classes can teach how to kill the supernatural things native to this land. I think there is a camp of sorts that does the very same thing, but I have not attended that." And considering Myka obviously knew how to use guns, she didn't need any of the shooting classes or such things. She just needed to know how to make the Devil's Traps, kill native vampires, exorcise ghosts and so forth. Again, it was just a suggestion, something worth looking into when it was obvious she needed something to do, something to focus on.
When Myka spoke about Pete, Anatoly just listened, taking further into account what Myka needed. Pete was her balance. It rather sounded like how his relationship with Svetlana was. Which sort of made it a bit easier. In theory.
"The classes aside, I would imagine you want to try getting a secret service job. Or some other position similar to it to keep you busy?"
