She was about to sit down when she heard him, but stood right back up, "you don't have to." She said quickly, then shook her head slightly.
It was bad enough she had been mean to him a couple nights ago, then pushed him away, then made a complete idiot out of herself just to have him go pick her up and take care of her. It was even worse that she had this sudden realization that just because some version of them had been happy enough together to get married, it still might never happen to her.
It definitely wouldn't happen if she didn't make an effort to keep him at arm's length, even more so because she knew that he would not be alone long if he didn't want to.
So even if it was terrifying to have to try and talk about the previous night and even worse to consider the possibility that this version of him just might not be interested in this version of her in that way, she knew she had to at the very least, try. Because she already felt like she was missing out on something.
