Amy stepped inside, taking in her surroundings. It was a pretty nice place, certainly nicer than some of the greasy spoon places she had seen on the road. While the exterior of the place seemed weathered, things inside seemed clean and well kept. Those were two factors that Amy cared about when choosing a spot to eat. All that was left was to see if the food was good or not.
She followed Priestly’s lead, sliding into the booth opposite him, and smiled. It was nice having him around as company. Even on the road, far away from the weirdness in Lawrence, Amy felt safer in his presence than she did without having him around. It was a good feeling.
“I don’t know.” She frowned a little giving her response. “I know that’s not much help if any, but everything revolves around when Moriarty gets his. Maybe check up with Peter to see what’s going on back there?” Amy didn’t say it, but she wanted the trip to last a while. This wasn’t only to escape potential danger, but also because she could be around Priestly without any guilt. She hadn’t told Peter exactly how she felt about Priestly, but still felt as if she was under a watchful eye in Lawrence. She wondered what he would say if he ever found out.
“From what I looked up, it sounded like Newbury Street is pretty cool.” She shrugged, veiling her enthusiasm over the locale just in case art galleries weren’t Priestly’s thing. It sounded like a good idea to her, not to mention something they could do for free.
Amy shifted her attention to the chalkboard menu and smiled. Most every dinner listed was something her mother had tried to cook at one point or another. That was years ago. Lately, Amy’s dinners had been frozen at one point or another or bought at the trendy, mostly meat-free restaurants her friends always wanted to go to.
“This is great. I missed this kind of stuff.” She looked to Priestly, obviously satisfied with where they’d wound up. “Back home I have people trying to convert me into a vegan. They tried to get me to drink kale smoothies.” Amy made a face, remembering the strange green mixture. How anyone could take something as delicious as a smoothie and ruin it with green, leafy vegetables completely escaped her.
