Amy let out a huge sigh of relief in response to Priestly stating that he could eat. “Good.” She smiled a big smile at him in spite of her nerves. She even laughed a quiet little chuckle. “I didn’t want to drag you off to some restaurant just for me. I always feel weird doing that.” It made her think of Charley, who always seemed to tease her about her appetite. It had always been good natured teasing, but that didn’t mean that it didn’t get to her on certain rare occasions. Amy always blamed it on metabolism. She was very active being so dedicated to track and field and she imagined that all the exercise was what kept her giant smoothies and milkshakes from going straight to her hips.
“That’s fine. Really, I could go for just about anything as far as food goes.” She shrugged a little. When she got hungry she was far from discriminatory about where the food came from. So long as she wasn’t sharing a seat with some kind of vermin, she was fine. “It’s sad.” Amy smirked. “I’m insatiable.”
Amy watched Priestly yawn. “Maybe after we eat we could stop for the night. I’d offer to take the wheel, but I’m a little sleepy myself.” It was funny how someone could get tired without even being the driver on such a trip. Amy hadn’t taken any naps or anything. She didn’t feel like it would be nice or polite to snooze while Priestly did all of the driving. It wasn’t as if he was her chauffeur or anything. He was her road trip buddy and temporary roommate and it didn’t seem right to treat him as her personal driver.
