His head snapped to the right, turning in Kim's direction the second he heard her voice. With a sharp frown, Jason moved forward, approaching both Kim and the explosives decorating her body with solid determination. Any sane person would have turned on heel and ran. Explosives were, well, explosive. One wrong move and that was it. Kabloom. Bye-bye forever. That wasn't going to be happening tonight. Not to Kimberly. Moriarty may have been a genius, but Jason Todd had studied abroad before his return to Gotham. Unlike the average college student, his studies circulated around the fine art of murder. Explosives? Were among the many lessons he had indulged himself in, doing so with one of the best experts Europe had to offer. Kind of a scummy guy, sure, but he was still one of the best. That was good enough for Jason. All that hell he had gone through fighting off his mentor's thuggish acquaintances was officially worth the trouble now. What he had gone through then was going to save Kim's life today.
"Lois is covered," Jason replied shortly. He made it in point not to look at Kim in the face. If he did, he'd see how terrified she was and he knew that would throw him off his game. If he saw her upset, he'd wanna make her feel better. Right now? He couldn't afford to waste time playing the comfort card. The saving her life card was ultimately far more important. "And so are you. Hold still, will you?"
The wiring was precise. Moriarty, or whoever he had hired to pull this off, had known exactly what they were doing. "I'm gonna disarm this thing. I need you to stay calm. You can't move." At that, Jason did risk looking at her. "Understand? If I try to pull one of these wires out and you start jumping around, I will make a mistake and you will die." Yeeeeeaaaaah, not all that comforting. Maybe he should have just told her to close her eyes instead. She could've counted to...something. Then it would have been over.
