What was there that could really be done? After all, it wasn't every day that someone found themselves transported to another time and place. Just like it wasn't everyday someone saw the person they loved beheaded after learning the truth that they had been risking their life for strangers. So couple all of that into the span of a few hours? Of course Marguerite was overwhelmed. She'd be overwhelmed in any situation, really. Each situation warranted it. But all together and Marguerite really did need to sit down. Or slide down against a tree and stare straight ahead at nothing.
The verification that she wasn't alone in feeling overwhelmed and confused did little to make the situation any easier than it already was. But somehow, Marguerite would have to find a way to push through. She had been able to make a new life in England despite the fact her husband had pulled away from her, had left her alone with strangers. She hadn't known the truth, of course. But she had survived that because even when he was home it was like he wasn't there. She had to find a way to survive as an orphan and to take care of her brother. It wasn't out of the realm of possibility that she could adapt and survive here. But the strain of the past few days made it harder for her to remember these facts.
"So you are saying that this is a common occurrence then?"
The words spoken were done slowly as Marguerite worked at wrapping her mind around this entire thing. She remembered being a child and losing her parents, of how fast she'd had to adapt despite the pain of the loss. But then again, she didn't have Armand here to worry about, she had no one. But even alone, she would survive. Even if she had to wonder what the point was when her husband was dead and her brother set to die.
"You do not seem surprised by my arrival..."
As the shock began to wear off, Marguerite was better able to focus on the questions to ask. The first two pointing to the fact that this was not such an uncommon situation and that she was not the only person to show up in this place from elsewhere and different times. She already knew that magic was behind it. That had been mentioned earlier. The Seal from the Bible or.. something like that. Either way, she was going to start pushing for answers. She was the cleverest woman in Europe and it's greatest actress. If she could manage all of that, she could figure this out and get the answers she needed to figure out what to do next. She just had to focus.
