While Ariel noted — a bit sadly and sympathetically, at that — that Maedhros was missing the hand on the arm he offered her, the hesitation came less from that and more from wondering whether that was allowed, now. Meaning, she wasn't sure Jimmy would like it and she didn't know the rules, really, of being in a relationship. She tried to think whether she would mind if Jimmy offered his arm to another girl taking a walk with him and decided that she wouldn't, so she linked her own with Maedhros' and gave him a small smile. "If you don't mind my asking..." she said slowly, looking up at him quizzically, "what happened to your hand...?" The way Ariel figured it, if he didn't want to tell the story, he'd say so and she'd leave it at that.
Moving beside him as they went outside, Ariel paused to consider his question. She wasn't really sure and she hadn't thought to wiki-walk long enough to find out. "I'm not sure... Lord of everything, I suppose? In this world, anyway. It's theology...I don't know much about it, just bits and pieces," she admitted. His question about the angels was one she could answer only vaguely. "Angels hail from Heaven, I guess...demons, from Hell. God — the Lord — has reign over Heaven and Lucifer of Hell, as far as I understand it. I don't think anybody really knows where Heaven and Hell are, so much as that they exist, somewhere..." Ariel let her voice trail off and wrinkled her nose. "I really didn't read that much of it...I just skimmed. Maybe I should read the rest..."
Ariel frowned slightly at the remaining questions he had. "I'm from a different universe than this one. I think maybe you must be, too, if you're used to talking trees and different stars. Where I came from, fish and birds could talk...but not here..." She stopped talking for a moment, just walking with him and sighed. "I don't know much about the world on land, really...those questions would be better posed to someone else. I came from the ocean; I wasn't always a mermaid. Everything was as new to me when I first got here as it is to you. Everything's so strange here...it's still taking me time to adjust, if I'm honest..." she admitted quietly.
